Ms. Geraldine James Cue, 75

Ms. Geraldine James Cue of Hazlehurst died Dec. 31 at the age of 75. Ms. Cue was the funeral director and co-owner of Thornton’s Funeral Home.
Ms. Cue was born in Jeff Davis County Oct. 21, 1946. Geraldine was a beloved staple of the Jeff Davis and surrounding communities for the kindness and compassion she showed to all she encountered. Over the years she became well known and highly respected among area funeral directors and those in the funeral business.
She is preceded in death by her parents John C. Coleman and Ruth Thornton James, loving uncles Archie “Buck” Thornton and Milton Thornton, and devoted brothers Alonzo James, Royce D. Slade, and Jimmy Lee Hall.
Loving memories of Geraldine will be cherished by loving, devoted companio James Melton of Tifton, an adoring and dedicated Goddaughter Priscilla McClean of Hazlehurst, dear friend and business colleague Claude Frank Cobb of Hazlehurst, true and caring friend Patricia Fuller of Hazlehurst, sister Marsha Fisher (Samuel) of Hazlehurst, cousin raised like a sister Gail Williams (Robert) of Hazlehurst, first cousins Sonja Renee Thornton-Hall, (Harry) of Lorton, VA., Eric K. Thornton (Monea) of Sugar Hill, Sharon Thornton Lias (Joseph) of Sanford, Fla., loving cousins Dorothy Harleston, of Hazlehurst, Donald Scott of Atlanta, Deborah Chandler (Ray) of Atlanta, Myra Mills (Ronald) of Atlanta, and special family friend Mathye J. McCloud of Lamont, Fla.
Graveside services were held Jan. 8 at Northview Cemetery in Hazlehurst with Minister Claude Frank Cobb presiding. Words of comfort were delivered by Pastor Rueben Bennett Jr.
Active pallbearers and flower attendants were cousins and friends of the community.
Thornton’s Funeral Home was in charge.
