Mrs. Matilda “Tillie” Harrelson Deen, 81, of Baxley died Nov. 12 at her residence under the care of Community Hospice.
Mrs. Deen was born Feb. 24, 1940, in Baxley to the late Thomas Jefferson Harrelson and the late Frankie Gardner Harrelson. She was a retired seamstress, working at Douglas and Harper, and a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Deen was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Thomas Deen and a brother, Donald Harrelson.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Sherrie cand Royce Dykes; sons and daughter-in-law, Junior and Donna Johnson and Eddie Deen; grandchildren, Derrick (Alice) Johnson, Edye Deen (Jarrad Kent), Steven (Cristy) Johnson, Eric Dykes, Amy (Tyler) Walker, and Emily Dykes; sisters, Ingoll Faye (Herman) Sumner and June (Ronald) Bullard; brothers, Wendell (Laura) Harrelson, Weldon Harrelson, and Paul Harrelson; and sister-in-law, Rhonda Harrelson; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held Nov. 15 at Hopewell United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bobby Gale, the Rev. Doug Weisel, and the Rev. Keith Yawn officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers were James Sumner, Scott Sumner, Don Harrelson, Randy Harrelson, Andy Harrelson, and Henry Morris.
Honorary pallbearers were Carolyn Morris, Eleanor Strickland, Nellie Faye Griffin, Rhoda Jane Roberson, Laverne Courson, Lillian Aycock, Nell Bullard, Lamar Jones, members of Hopewell UMC, and all friends in attendance.
Music was rendered by Samantha Carter and Michelle Houston.
