Mr. Milton Atkinson, 80
Mr. Milton Atkinson, 80, of Denton passed away Nov. 5 at his residence.
Mr. Atkinson was born Aug. 30, 1941, in Jeff Davis County.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Lott Atkinson and Mary Moon McCook, sister, Verna Sue Lott and brother, Junior Atkinson,
Mr. Atkinson was previously employed with Propex for over 34 years and attended Elizabeth Baptist Church. When he was not working, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and camping. He loved spending time with his family and especially babysitting the grand-dogs. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and will be sadly missed by all that knew him.
Survivors include his wife of almost 57 years, Winifred Bennett Atkinson of Denton; daughters, Connie Atkinson Wheeler (Jerry) of Denton and Samantha Atkinson Gillespie of Denton; brothers, Billy Atkinson (Brenda) of Canada, Daniel Atkinson of Snipesville, Ronald Atkinson (Maedeen) of Denton and Donnie Atkinson (Jeanette) of Glennville; sister, Betty Sue Crawford (Collin) of Hazlehurst; half-sister, Bernice Atkinson Rojas of Denton; grandchildren, Kaylan Wheeler, Ashley (Stacey) Gillespie and Josh Wheeler; several nieces and nephews.
Services were held Nov. 10 at 2 p.m. at Elizabeth Baptist Church with the Rev. Keith Yawn officiating. Interment followed in Denton Cemetery.
Hazlehurst Mills employees served as honorary pallbearers.
Active pallbearers were Stacey Bohannon, Josh Wheeler, Jerry Wheeler, Tommy Campbell, Cory Nipper and Jonathan Wright.
