Ms. Jeannie Poe Carter, 72
Ms. Jeannie Poe Carter, 72, of Hazlehurst, died Oct. 9 at her residence.
Ms. Carter was born April 3, 1949, in Appling County. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Poe, Maddie Davis Poe, husband, James A. Carter, son, Jeffery Carter, grandson, Jared Carter, sisters, Mary Poe Thatched and Betty Collins. She was employed with Amoco Fabrics for 44 years and was a member of Hazlehurst Church of God. She was a social butterfly, enjoyed life, was a great cook, LOVED reading, playing board games and enjoyed spending time with her family.
Survivors include her son, Joseph (Joey) Carter and Teresa Manning, special friend and caregiver of Hazlehurst; brothers, Joel Poe (Shirley) of Hazlehurst and Bloyce (Junior) McDaniel (Judy) of Hazlehurst; sisters, Joe Ann Wilcox of Hazlehurst and Connie McDaniel of Baxley; grandchildren, Jocelynn Carter, Baleigh Carter, Jacob Carter, Jessica Carter Lee and Corey Carter; great-grandchildren, Gavin Johnson, Grayson Johnson, Anilynn Miller, Gionni Carter, Adyson Lee, Madelyn Lee, Dallas Lee, Henley Carter; special great-granddaughter, Clara Anna Grace Dukes (BooBoo); several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held Oct. 12 in Oak View Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. John Nunes and the Rev. Alvin Merritt officiating.
Honorary pallbearers were Hazlehurst Church of God Adult Sunday School Class and her Propex co-workers.
Active pallbearers were Malcolm Hall, Quentin Hall, David Carter, Britt Marchant, Joel Poe Jr., and Anthony McDaniel.
