Mr. Clifford Monroe Ray, 77

Mr. Clifford Monroe Ray, 77, passed away Sept. 19 at his home in Hazlehurst.
Mr. Ray was born April 8, 1944, in Hazlehurst to the late Emmett and Margie Graham Ray. Mr. Ray is also preceded in death by sister Evelyn Swain and brothers Eugene Ray and Bobby Ray. Mr. Ray was a veteran of the United States Army. He enjoyed carpentry, photography, fishing and riding his tractor, cutting grass. He was previously employed with Thompson Hardwoods and a member of First United Methodist Church of Hazlehurst.
Survivors include his wife, Jane Ellison Ray of Hazlehurst; sons Andy Ray of Atlanta, Eric Ray (Rose) of North Carolina, Ben Ray of Atlanta, Christopher Neil Smith (Beverly) of Kentucky, and Richard Neil Smith (Angel) of Lumber City; grandchildren Dia Ray, Evan Ray, Adam Smith, Rachel Strader, Austin Smith and Kristen Smith.
A memorial service was held Sept. 27 in the chapel of Wainright Parlor Funeral Home with the Rev. Allen Hartwell officiating.
