Ms. Gwendolyn Medders Morris, 81, of Hazlehurst, died Sept. 13 at Serenity Hospice House in Dublin.
Ms. Morris was born Sept. 1, 1940, in Ware County.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Leonard Chancey and Josie Jewell Thrift Chancey; daughters, Deborah Kaye Taylor, Regina Gail Medders, Vivian Elaine Medders; grandson, Kendall Medders; sister, Marie Fales; brothers, Thomas Chancey, Glenn Chancey, George Chancey, Stokes Chancey; daughters-in-law, Mary Medders, Sheila Medders; and son-in-law, Ricky Steverson. Ms. Morris loved sewing, fishing, cooking and dancing, but most of all she loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Survivors include sons, Billy Joe Medders Jr. of Hazlehurst, Charlie Edward Medders (Angel) of Hazlehurst, David Russell Medders (Jan) of Hazlehurst and Leonard Barton Medders (Cindy) of Hazlehurst; daughter, Rose Marie Steverson of Hazlehurst; brothers, Stanley Chancey (Wannell) of Waycross and Joe Chancey (Marie) of Waycross; sister, Linda Murphy of Tennessee; 18 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held Sept. 16 in Hazlehurst Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Joe Chancey and the Rev. Joey Chancey officiating.
Active pallbearers were Zackary Medders, Tyler Steverson, Greg Taylor Jr., Chris Wood, Victor Cooper and Blayden Cooper.
