Services for Mr. Perry Lee Smith, 61, who died Sept. 6, were held Sept. 12 at 69 Girtman Street with Missionary Dr. Mary A. King and Minister Vertis Ryals officiating. Special singing was by Sabrina Monplaisir.
Mr. Smith was born to the late Azalene Tobler Smith and Wright Smith July 17, 1960, in Jeff Davis County and resided here all his life. He attended the Jeff Davis County School System. He was married to Ms. Lucy Alderman and from that marriage, they were blessed with two sons. Mr. Smith was a member of Bennett Tabernacle Holiness Church. He worked at Hazlehurst Mills, Ero’s, Amerced and Wal-Mart. He was a jack of all trades, was crafty with his hands and would work on anything.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Mary Alice Smith and Mary Francis Smith; brothers John Tobler and Craig Smith; godparents, Mr. Roy Simmons and Mr. John Dawson.
Survivors include sons Perry D. Smith and Clinton (Jada) Smith; stepdaughter, Robin Ellerbee; five grandchildren; siblings Mary Ann Smith, Roy (Tammy) Smith, James Smith; sister-in-law, Virginia Tobler; godparents, Mrs. Linda Simmons and Mrs. Dorothy Dawson; special cousins Elaine Rucker, Linda Gail Price, Everett “Chuck” Smith, and Darryl Smith; one aunt; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
