Mr. Joe Lendsey ‘Duke’ Harmon Sr., 71

Services for Mr. Joe Lendsey “Duke” Harmon Sr., 71, who died Aug. 31, will be Saturday, Sept. 11, at 11 a.m. at Bennett Tabernacle Holiness Church in Hazlehurst.
Elder Eddie Harmon will officiate with Apostle Johnny Watkins giving the eulogy. Burial will be in Hazlehurst Memorial Cemetery, 38 Cook Rd., Hazlehurst.
Mr. Harmon, born in Colquitt County, was the son of the late Melzie Harmon and the late Emma Lou Harmon. He is a graduate of Hazlehurst High School where he played basketball. He was an employee of Jeff Davis Hospital for over 25 years and an active member of Bennett Tabernacle Holiness Church. He was a man of integrity with a great sense of humor. He loved fishing, cooking, and music. Preceding him in death were Melzie Harmon, Dennis Broody, Belzie Harmon, Mary Lou Harmon, and Ricky Harmon.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Miranda Mcrae-Harmon; two children, Joe (Eva) Harmon Jr. and Jaylar Harmon, both of Hazlehurst; three grandchildren, Ariana Harmon, Briana Harmon and Joshua Harmon; brothers, Eddie Harmon (Helen), Freddie Harmon (Veronica) and Buddy Harmon; sisters, Zonia McMillian (John), Lula Harmon, Rosie Hansley (Johnnie) and Lizzie Harmon and a host of relatives and friends.
Musical selections were rendered by Johnny Miles, The Benjamin Family, Bobby Joe Crayton Sr. and Evangelist A.D. Knox.
Others assisting in the service will be Pastor Cameron Knox, Evangelist Dorothy Dotson, and Vera Clinton.
Active pallbearers Freddie Harmon, Claude Harmon, Stanley McCoy, Gary McRae, Terry Davis, and Alton Stripling.
Honorary pallbearers were Buddy Harmon, Matthew Harmon, Michael McRae, Kane Oliver, and Bobby Joe Crayton Sr.
