Mr. Donald ‘Don’ J. Childers, 71

Mr. Donald “Don” J. Childers, 71, passed away Aug. 15 in Middleburg, Fla., after a brief bout with Covid. He was born Oct. 5, 1949, in Hartford, Conn., to the late John J. Childers and Virginia E. Childers. He was a faithful servant to our Lord Jesus Christ.
Don was a member of Good Samaritan Anglican Church. He retired from Sara Lee and Smithfield, but never one to sit idle he was self-employed with Quality Wholesale. Don enjoyed fishing and spending time with his wife and family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Emma Rowland Childers; children, Christopher (Kelsey) Childers, Michelle (Brian) Dozeman, Buddy Dingman, Rae (Greg) Smith, Penny (Clay) McRae and James (Nicole) Tafoya; 14 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sisters, Robin (H.L.) Dye and Hope (Norman) Waggoner, and many other family members and friends.
His wife, Emma Rowland Childers is the daughter of the late Sam and Bessie Rowland of Hazlehurst with many family members and friends in the surrounding area.
A Celebration of Life will be held Aug. 30 at 10:30 a.m. at Good Samaritan Anglican Church, 3813 Old Jennings Road, Middleburg. Interment will be at 1 p.m. at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, Fla.
