Mr. Glenn L. Dukes, 63

Mr. Glenn L. Dukes, 63, of Brandon, Fla., passed away July 17 at his home with his family at his side.
Glenn was born in Baxley, the son of Silas and Mary Jo (Groover) Dukes. He held an Associate’s Degree of Business Management from Southern Technical College. His achievements included serving 25 years in the United States Army and retiring honorably at the rank of Master Sergeant. Glenn served in Europe, the Middle East and at home. He fought with U.S. Forces in Operations Desert Shield, Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom before retiring in 2003 in Florida. He was recognized in the military and careers beyond as a valuable leader with strong determination and a willingness to help others succeed. He was a man that stood for values, family, and faith. If a person was in need, he would help, if they continued to be in need, he would equip them with the tools and knowledge to make sure they would never need help again. Glenn did for others, never expecting a thank you or thing in return, that is who he was and in death he passes on such legacy through his children. Most people who have come in contact with him know him as a great friend or a brother due to his compassion, love and understanding. He will forever be in our hearts.
On Sept. 6, 1995, he married his wife of over 25 years. He is survived by his wife Heike (Steidl) Dukes of Brandon, Fla.; mother Mary Jo Dukes; brother David Dukes; sister Jean Dukes; children, Shane (Carie) Dukes of North Carolina, Glenn (Sarah) Dukes Jr. of Georgia, Kelly Dukes of Colorado, and Brandon (Hope) Dukes of Florida; 10 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends.
