Mrs. Colleen Woods, 87
Mrs. Colleen Woods, 87, of Hazlehurst, died May 31 at her daughter’s residence.
Ms. Woods was born Dec. 1, 1933, in Coffee County.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Alfred Theodore Caves and Beatrice Stone Caves, husband, J.B. Woods, grandson, Travis Woods, sisters, Dorothy Shroulder, Bobby Jean McKinnon, Jeanette Horne and brother, J.T. Caves.
Ms. Woods was a master seamstress, loved beautiful flowers and bird watching, loved to put puzzles together and winning at card games. She had a very loving spirit, everyone that knew her, called her a “Sweetheart.”
She was a perfect homemaker, loved cooking and taking care of her family, and she will be sadly missed by all that knew her. She attended Stone’s Chapel in Coffee County.
Survivors include her son, Roy Woods of Hazlehurst; daughters, JoAnn Deas (Richard) of Hazlehurst and Debbie Powell (Alan) of Richmond Hill; sister, Geneva Mims of Hazlehurst; grandchildren, Jason Lawson (Dawn), Blake Lawson and Austin Powell (Rebecca); great-grandchildren, Anna Belle Lawson and Brye Woods; several nieces and nephews.
Services were held June 2 in the chapel of Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Mock and the Rev. Thomas Colter officiating. Interment followed in Denton Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Don Mims, Teddy Horne, Randy McKinnon, Steve McKinnon, and Austin Powell.
