Services for Mr. Robert Hugh Ringold, who died May 15 at Community Hospice in Vidalia, were held May 20 at Full Gospel Church of God in Lumber City, with Minister Roderick Ringold Jr, Bishop William Hollis, Minister Vertis Ryals and Apostle Corie Clements officiating.
Singing was by the Full Gospel Church of God Praise Team.
Interment was in Hazlehurst Memorial Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Larry Clements, Antonio Jackson, Tim Dotson, Aaron Clements, Willie Samuel Clark and Saul Williams.
Mr. Ringold was born to the late William Erving Ringold and Eunice McChristian in Winona, Miss. After the death of his parents, he was reared by his aunt and uncle, Magnolia Fox and the late ER Fox. He attended Grenada County, Miss., schools.
Later, he moved to Lumber City. After living together for 30 years, he and the lovely Shirlene Ryals were married Oct. 25, 2014, in Telfair County. He was an active member of Full Gospel Church of God, where he faithfully attended services and Sunday School until his health failed.
He was employed by Bobby Overstreet Construction Company for many years as a brick mason and concrete worker. He loved to attend gospel sings. For many years, he sang with The Calvaries Gospel Group.
He was a family man, who provided for his family. After retirement, his love was focused on planting gardens and working outdoors. Many people were blessed from the harvest of his gardens.
Preceding him in death are his parents; son, Wayne Chambers; step-mother Annie Ringold; and sister, Lizzie Whitified.
Survivors include his wife, Shirlene Ringold of Lumber City; daughter, Christy McRae of Atlanta; sons Willie E. Ringold of Washington, D.C., and Roderick (Yolando) Ringold of Douglas. He was a father to John L. and Taray Ryals of Anderson, S.C. A daughter-in-law Stephanie Green Chambers of Alamo; 20 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; aunt/mother, Magnolia Fox of Grenada, Miss.; sister, Georgie Ringold of Louisville, KY;brothers and sisters-in-laws Hosea (Willie Mae) Ryals, Delacy (Dorothy) Ryals, Leon (Bridgette) Ryals, Linda Conaway, Janice (Saul) Williams, Gail Wilcox, Ora (Willie Samuel) Clark, and Faye Scott; close friends Luke Gibson, Tim Dotson, Donald Lee Dotson, and Tom McChristian; special nieces Sandra Curtis, Tiffany Curtis, and Shandra Curtis-Smart; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
