Mr. Bennie Calhoun Sr., 86

Mr. Bennie Calhoun Sr., 86, passed away April 11 following an extended illness.
Services will be at 2 p.m. April 14 at Lumber City Church of God. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Pastor Johnny Taylor will officiate.
Mr. Calhoun, a native of Jeff Davis County, was the son of the late Lucin H. and Idell (Creamer) Calhoun. He was a retired farmer, veteran of the United States Army, an avid fisherman and hunter and attended Lumber City Church of God.
Survivors include his daughter, Mary D. Gilbert (Leon) of Lumber City; son, Bennie Calhoun Jr. (Mary) of Lumber City; grandson, Joey Smith; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Other than his parents Mr. Calhoun was predeceased by a grandson, William Long, sisters Evelyn, Beatrice and Lillian, and brothers Bernice, Luther and Talmadge.
