Board Hires New Staff Members

At a called meeting last Friday, the Jeff Davis County Board of Education approved recommendations to hire 18 staff members and other personnel.
The board voted to not renew the school system’s custodial contract with ABM Advance Cleaning Services and agreed to open a position for a school social worker.
The retirement of Patsy Crumpton and the resignations of Tamera McEachin and Miranda Rowland were accepted.
Recommendations approved were:
• 2021-2022 certified staff – Sherry Cabaniss, Sheila Edwards and Abbie Mullis.
• Director of Special Education Mary Susan Arnold.
• Elementary school teachers Daisy Lopez and Cody Ogilvie.
• Middle school teachers Danielle Shelby and Hogan White.
• Primary school teachers Cammie Brown, Abi Walker, Makayla Hall and Jennifer Peacock.
• High school social studies teacher Logan Hughes.
• Paraprofessionals Gina Dover, Shiela Herrin, Chasity Johnson, Emma Disharoon and Alexis Smith.
The board also chose board member Larry Allen as the school system’s Georgia School Boards Association delegate and Greg Brantley as the alternate delegate.
