Services for Mrs. Donna Lynette Russell, 52, who died Feb. 28, were held March 6 at Saint James A.M.E. Church in Hazlehurst
The Rev. Ruben Bennett Jr. officiated with burial in Wilcox and Hall Cemetery in Hazlehurst.
Mrs. Russell, born in Hazlehurst, was the daughter of Larry Williams and Catherine Burke. She graduated from Jeff Davis High School in 1986 and later achieved a master cosmetology license at Atlanta Technical College in Atlanta. She went on to flourish in a career as a physical therapy administrator at Emory University Hospital for 20 plus years. She enjoyed walking, traveling home to Hazlehurst, and spending time with her son, family, and friends. She was a problem solver and always willing to give a helping hand. Her contagious smile will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Henry and Alberta Garnes, Obie and Louise Williams, and niece, LaDonna Kirby.
Survivors include her son, Justin Varner; husband, Bernard Russell; parents, Catherine (Rev. Rosco) Burke and Larry (Sandra) Williams; sisters, Kathy Bradford (Arvine), Lashaye Walker, Landra Williams, LaTori Dominguez, Pricilla Burke Brothers; Minister Herbert Burke (Debra), Joe Solomon, Allen Burke, Ladon Streeter (Kathy), Delancier Black (Terri) and Larry Williams Jr., and a host of relatives and friends.
Music was rendered by The Benjamin Family, Zackary Wilder III, and Mattie Parker.
Pallbearers were brothers, cousins and members of the family.
Thornton Funeral Home of Hazlehurst was in charge of arrangements.
