Mrs. Jo Ann Bohannon Lewis, 87
Mrs. Jo Ann Bohannon Lewis of Centerville passed away Feb. 16 after an extended battle with heart disease and cancer.
Jo was born on Aug. 22, 1933, in Hazlehurst to the late A.C. and Irene Wilson Bohannon. She attended Middle Georgia College, South Georgia College, and Macon State College.
Creative, beautiful and gregarious, Jo was a natural at marketing and enjoyed many years operating her ladies’ clothing shop, the Parkway Boutique. She loved to talk and make people laugh. She was passionate about the quality of her merchandise and would offer nothing to her customers that she would not wear herself. Customers were loyal and many became personal friends. She had a flair for interior decorating and could make a new home a showcase soon after her family’s relocations during earlier years.
Jo was preceded in death by her sons, Glen and Stan Lewis. She is survived by grandchildren, James, Jeremy, Jay (Mallory) and Leigh Lewis; great-grandson, Edison; daughters-in-law, Charlotte and Kim Lewis; sisters, Peggy Holz (Jim), Bobbie Gallia (Al), and Shala Glennon (Mike); several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Alice Burwell (Bruce).
Graveside services were held Feb. 20 at Eureka Baptist Church in Hazlehurst. In lieu of flowers, a memorial gift may be made to Eureka Baptist Church or your favorite hospice.
