Mr. Charles Edgar Nail, 75
Mr. Charles Edgar Nail, 75, of Graham passed away Jan. 24 at Jeff Davis Hospital.
Mr. Nail was born Dec. 18, 1945, in Appling County to the late Linton Lee Nail and the late Geraldine Peacock Nail. He was preceded in death by his brothers Curtis Lee Nail, James Nail, Gary “Peanut” Nail, Wilton “Pettie” Nail and a sister, Veronice Lewis. Mr. Nail was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. He was a graduate of the Appling County Class of 1964 excelling in sports, where he was a four-letter athlete for all four years. Mr. Nail served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. He returned home to help raise his son and would go on to help coach little league recreation sports many years. He was the founder and owner of Nail’s Propane since 1983 establishing and managing offices in Hazlehurst and Baxley which operate today.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Connie Rowell Nail of Graham; son and daughter in law, Chuck and Krisan Nail of Baxley; brother, Windell (Janet) Nail and sisters, Jewel Snead, and Carolyn Polk all of Baxley; granddaughter, Brooke (Jesse) Deats; grandson, Brett Nail; and great-granddaughter, Charleigh Ann Deats. Also surviving were sister-in-laws Nina Rowell, Aldine (Billy Ray) Miller and a host of nephews and nieces.
Graveside services were held Jan. 27 in Graham United Methodist Cemetery with the Rev. Michael Beecher and the Rev. Steve Toler officiating and Mayor Bayne Stone giving a eulogy.
Active pallbearers were Craig Padgett, Jesse Deats, Tracy/Gary Rowell, Caleb Tillman, Tony Rowell, Tim Rowell and Craig Padgett.
Honorary pallbearers were present and former employees of Nail’s Propane and friends and family who attend the service.
