Early Voting Is Brisk
Early voting was brisk at the Jeff Davis Courthouse this week as advanced voting for the Jan. 5, 2021, runoff election opened.
Elections Supervisor Christy Riner said 207 voters cast early ballots Monday and, by 2 p.m. Tuesday, another 144 people had voted.
Riner said social distancing is being enforced at the courthouse and officials are monitoring the number of people in the building at all times. While at times there were lines in the halls of the courthouse, the voting was going smoothly with short wait times.
On the ballot are the U.S. Senate runoff between incumbent Republican David A. Perdue and Democratic challenger John Ossoff, special election runoff between incumbent Republican Kelly Loeffler and Democratic challenger Raphael Warnock, and a Public Service Commission runoff between incumbent Republican Lauren Bubba McDonald Jr. and Democratic challenger Daniel Blackman.
On another matter, Riner said the second recount of the November election returns, like the first recount, had no changes from the original election night count.
