Jackets travel to Jefferson County Friday

Jeff Davis High was the only Region 2-AA football team to survive the first round of the 2020 playoffs.
No. 1 seeded Vidalia took it on the chin as 4-AA’s 4th seeded Bleckley County won 56-15 on the Indians’ home field. No. 3 seed Toombs County fell 27-14 to Northeast Macon and No. 4 seed Swainsboro was blanked 35-0 by Dodge County.
The Yellow Jackets travel to Jefferson County High School this week. The 8-2 Warriors are the No. 1 seed out of Region 4-AA, winning their opening round game over Cook County 36-22. The school is located halfway between Louisville and Wrens.
In other first round games: Thomasville downed Westside-Augusta 42-13, Lovett easily defeated Pepperell 38-17, Callaway took a forfeit win over Banks County, Model prevailed over Washington 38-14, Rabun County bested Haralson County 35-7, Early County blew by Putnam County 48-7, Heard County squeaked by Union County 31-28, Fannin County won 28-21 over Pace Academy, No. 1 ranked Fitzgerald had no problems with Oglethorpe County winning 58-12, Bremen edged Elbert County 28-21 and South Atlanta got its first playoff win ever, taking a 26-14 victory over Chattooga.
