Mrs. Jane Wallace Baggett, 96

Mrs. Jane Wallace Baggett, age 96, of Hazlehurst, passed away at her residence Oct.17.
Mrs. Baggett was born Feb. 25, 1924, in Memphis, Tenn., and was preceded in death by her parents, Kirk Earl Wallace and Elizabeth Forsyth Wallace, and her husband, Mr. E.O. (Red) Baggett. She was a graduate of Andrew and Wesleyan Colleges, member of United Methodist Women, only female founding member of Hazlehurst-Jeff Davis Chamber of Commerce, member of Retired Teachers, Friends of the Library, Christian Ladies Fellowship, League of Women Voters, Chamber of Commerce Director’s Award named after Jane Baggett, the owner and operator of the family business for many years, known as Wallace’s and a lifetime member of First United Methodist Church of Hazlehurst.
Survivors include daughters, Beth Baggett Harati of South Carolina and Jan Baggett Finn of Oregon; grandchildren, Sara (Mark) Skeen, Suzanna Harati, Sherene Harati, Matthew (Candace) Finn and Rachel (Sam) Finn; great-grandchildren, Mason, Emme Jane, Jameson Skeen, and Teddy Finn Weston.
Private graveside services were held Oct.22 at Palms Memorial Garden with the Rev. Allen Hartsfield and the Rev. J. Barry Owens officiating.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
