Mrs. Hilda M. Wasdin, 88

Mrs. Hilda M. Wasdin, 88, died of natural causes Oct. 3 at Poet’s Walk in Warrenton, Va.
Hilda was born Hildegard Maria Rosa Kreusel Dec. 13, 1931, in Jablonec nad Nisou,
Czechoslovakia, the daughter of Josefine and Klemens Kreusel. She emigrated to the United
States with her husband, Waldo “Buck” Wasdin, and their two daughters Dec. 9, 1955. She and her husband resided in Hazlehurst for 40 years following Buck’s retirement from the U.S. Air Force.
Hilda enjoyed cooking, gardening and singing with the Jolly Friends from Southside Church
in Hazlehurst. Her grandchildren enjoyed her stories about the old country and life during
and after World War 2 in Germany.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, a grandson, her brother Rudy, and their parents.
Hilda is survived by daughter, Alice Copeland and son-in-law Guy Copeland of Fairfax
Station, Va.; daughter, Connie Edwards and son-in-law Dave Edwards of Georgetown, Texas;
two granddaughters, Kelly David of Austin, TX and Michelle Hale of Warrenton, VA; one
grandson, Bryan Edwards of Abilene, Texas; two great-granddaughters; and four great-grandsons.
The funeral arrangements will be announced later due to COVID-19.
