Mr. James B. Davis, 85

A graveside service for Mr. James B. Davis, 85, who died Aug. 21 at Lumber City Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center, was held Aug. 27 at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Lumber City.
Mr. Davis, affectionately called “Sweet Daddy,” was born on March 8, 1925, to the late Rev. J. A. (Jenkin Alfred) Davis and the late Lillie Bell Friar Davis in Telfair County. He attended Macedonia Church of God in Christ in Lumber City where he was a faithful Usher. He attended the Lumber City Elementary School System.
James worked at the saw mill and he was employed by the City of Lumber City as a sanitation worker for many years. He spent much of his life doing yard work for citizens of the community.
Preceding him in death are his parents, sister Blanche Davis Clements and brother Joe Davis. He stayed under the care of the late Helen Smith and sons, the late Ed and Earline Black, and the late Sarah Hawkins.
Survivors include nieces Williejoe Davis and her children, LaTrina Wilcox, Shamar Wilcox, and Tabithia Wilcox; Linda McNeil and her children Shawn (Brandia) Wilcox, Marcus (Shalotta) Wilcox, Steve McNeil, and Jaccorrie Wilcox; devoted cousin, George Williams of Baxley; longtime friends Aaron Clements, Henry Wilcox Jr., Gene Smith, and Melvin Kellum; and a host of great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
King Brothers Funeral Home was in charge.
