Mrs. Shirley Pennington

Mrs. Shirley Pennington, formerly of Hazlehurst, went to be with the Lord Oct. 17.
She was a native of Charleston, W.Va., but had resided in Hazlehurst for a number of years. She was an active member of Southside Baptist Church where she served in many areas of the church.
She had 23 years of service in the public schools in Jeff Davis County and was the widow of Bobby Pennington.
She is survived by two daughters, Sonya Kirkham and Michele Pennington of Lafayette, Ind.; two grandchildren, Preston Kirkham of Plano, Texas, and Stacia Peters of Romney, Ind.; she was blessed with five great-grandson’s, Samuel, Joshua, Mason, Max and Jacob; several nieces and nephews.
Other surviving family members are four brothers in West Virginia and one sister in Arkansas.
She will be greatly missed.
Services will be held Nov. 25 at 1 p.m, in the Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Wigley officiating.
