Services for Mr. Elias Jackson Dotson III, 66, who died Sept. 25, were held Oct. 5 at Bennett Tabernacle Holiness Church. Bishop Eddie Harmon and the Rev. C.D. Johnson officiated with burial in Philadelphia Cemetery.
Mr. Dotson was the son of the late Elias Jack Dotson Jr. and Minnie Mae Chambers Dotson. “Bogey” as he was affectionately known to many, was a gifted farmer his entire life, having worked with the Yawn Family Farm and Williams Farm. He sang with various groups, including the Cavaliers, Tri-County Choir, Dotson Family and Bennett Tabernacle Choir. Mr. Dotson was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Roderick Lee Dotson; step-son, Johnnie B. Rease Jr., granddaughter, Kemaria James and aunt, Joanna Dotson Williams.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Dotson of Hazlehurst; son, Timothy Wooten of Baxley step-son, Sergio James of Baxley; brothers, Timothy Lee Dotson, Walter Tucker Dotson, and John David Dotson, all of Hazlehurst; sisters, Dianne Dotson Pace and Elaine Carter, both of Hazlehurst; aunts, Betty Lou Burney of Hazlehurst and Lavern Mann of Dearborn, FL; uncles, Thomas (Dorothy) Dotson, Donald Lee Dotson, and John Wesley Chambers, all of Hazlehurst; five grandchildren; nieces and nephews, Cathy Pace, Milllie Dotson-Alls, Michael Dotson and Larmont Carter, all of Hazlehurst.
Music was rendered by Tri-County Choir, LaRita Rhodes, The Cavaliers, and Johnny Miles.
Thornton Funeral Home of Hazlehurst was in charge of arrangements.
