Services for Mr. Bennie Lamar Bennett, 63, who died Aug. 4, were held Aug. 17 at Bennett Tabernacle Holiness Church.
Pastor Reuben Bennett Jr. and Pastor Henry Josey officiated with burial in Francis Chapel Cemetery in McRae.
Mr. Bennett (Frog), born in Hazlehurst, was the son of the late Walter and Barbara Ann Bennett. He graduated from Jeff Davis High in 1976 and was employed at Ero Manufacturing until the company closed. His greatest joy was his grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, Jimmy Scurry, Leroy Bryant and Willie James Williams.
Survivors include his son, Jimmy (Amanda) Benton of Hazlehurst; two special Goddaughters, Crystal Littleton and Constance (Michael) McCloud, 15 grandchildren, Bryson, Tyrese, Ashlyn, L’Mara, Jozalyn, Michael, Jaiquan, Kemasine, A’ziyah, Keiana, Te’leyah, Matthew, Maihaley, Jai, and Kaysem; eight siblings, Vincent (Gail) Bennett of Hazlehurst, Linda Gail (Michael) Doctor of Rockledge, FL., Jared Scurry and Kim Bryant, both of Hazlehurst, Kendall (Sari) Bennett of Lilburn, Shelia Williams, Zabra Bennett, and Shaun Herring, all of Hazlehurst. He will also be missed by a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Active pallbearers were Jeffery Bennett, Eric Thornton, Edward Bennett, Paris Balkcom, Henri Kornegay, Harvey Smith, Wilbert Miles, and Jim Johnson.
Honorary pallbearers were Charlie Bennett, Reuben Bennett Sr., Jim Bennett, Ray Bennett, Wilfred Bennett, and Jerrell Briggs.
Music was rendered by Nigel Luckett, Kristy Bennett, Vonshel Nelson, and Lydia King.
Thornton’s Funeral Home of Hazlehurst was in charge of arrangements.
