Mrs. Linda Walker Hayes, 71
Mrs. Linda Walker Hayes, 71, of Hazlehurst, died May 4 at her residence.
Mrs. Hayes was born Nov. 19, 1947, in Jeff Davis County to the late Clifford Walker and the late Loudine Partin Walker. She was a retired U.S. Postal Carrier and a member of Union Springs Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School Teacher and church pianist for 61 years starting at the age of 10. She is preceded in death by an infant daughter, Angela Hayes and infant brother, Clinton Walker.
Survivors include her husband, Ronnie Hayes of Hazlehurst; daughter and son-in-law, Deana H. and Rodney Gilliland of Tennessee; son and daughter-in-law, Darren and Natalie Hayes of Hazlehurst; brother, Howard Walker of Denton; granddaughter, Haylee Hayes; grandsons, Ty Sauceman and Hamp Hayes; several nieces and nephews.
Services were held May 7 at Union Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Merle Webster and the Rev. Brad Waters officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers were members of the Adult Sunday School Class of Union Springs.
Active pallbearers were Darren Hayes, Rodney Gilliland, Ty Sauceman, Hamp Hayes, Cliff Walker, and Matt Austin.
Music and congregational singing was provided by Deana Hayes Gilliland, John Austin and the congregation.
Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home was in charge.
