Mrs. Gertrude Newman McLoon, 90
Mrs. Gertrude Newman McLoon, 90, of Hazlehurst, died April 16 at Jeff Davis Hospital.
Mrs. McLoon was born Dec. 24, 1928, in Plant City, Fla., to the late Eddie Dalton Newman and the late Myrtice Shoemake Newman. She was a retired beautician and a member of Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Tot McLoon, and siblings, Juanita Newman Barber, Jeanette Newman Hooker, Marvin Newman, Melvin Newman, Eddie Newman Jr., Bobby Gene Newman, and Gene Edward Newman.
Survivors include her daughter, Charlyne McLoon Sanders (Larry) of Fort Valley; son, Donnie Tot McLoon (Lavonne) of Hazlehurst; sister, Alice Newman Griffin of Plant City, Fla.; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held April 19 in the chapel of Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home, with grandson, Tim Roberson giving a eulogy and the Rev. Keith Yawn officiating. Interment followed in Hazlehurst City Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Bryson McLoon, Tim Roberson, Ryan McLoon, Ron McLoon, Eddie Willingham, Conner McLoon, and Jordan Mcloon.
Musical selections were rendered by the Elizabeth Baptist Church Choir under the direction of E.H. Claxton Jr.
