Mr. Donnie Quitman Batten, 78

Mr. Donnie Quitman Batten, 78, of Hazlehurst, died Jan. 24 at Lumber City Nursing Home.
Mr. Batten was born Jan. 25, 1940, in Coffee County to the late Quitman Batten and the late Shella Mae Wood Batten.
He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, retired farmer and member of Elizabeth Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Diana Batten.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Hutcheson Batten of Hazlehurst; sons, Eugene Batten (Betty) of Hazlehurst, Greg Batten (Marlene) of Hazlehurst and Sammie Batten (Diane) of Hazlehurst; sisters, JoAnn Trowell (Larry) of Hazlehurst and Debbie May (Greg) of Eufaula, Ala.; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Services were held Jan. 26 at Elizabeth Baptist Church with the Rev. Keith Yawn officiating.
Interment followed in Hazlehurst City Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers were all friends in attendance.
Active pallbearers were Roscoe Hutcheson Jr., Jacob Batten, Paul Batten, Wayne Herndon, Corey Batten and Tommy Campbell.
Musical selections were rendered by E.H. Claxton.
Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home was in charge.
