Mr. James Dockery Tate, 90

Mr. James Dockery Tate, 90, died Jan. 13 at his residence.
Mr. Tate was born Nov. 22, 1928, in Lumpkin County to the late Emory Tate and the late Lula Dockery Tate. He was a farmer and served as a long-term member of Jeff Davis County Commissioners and chairman and board member of ASCS (FSA). Mr. Tate was a very active member of Jeff Davis County Farm Bureau and attended Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his siblings Iris Jones, Roscoe Charles Tate, E.A. Tate, and Thomas Tate.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years Mrs. Arletha Ricketson Tate of Snipesville; daughter and son-in-law, Shari Tate Johnson (Chris) of Dublin; son and daughter-in-law, James Emory Tate (Betty Sue) of Snipesville; sisters, Lynora Sapp and Elena Mayfield; brother, Eugene Tate; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Services were held Jan. 19 at Southside Baptist Church with the Rev. Doug Weisel, the Rev. Roy Taylor and the Rev. Kenyon Fennell officiating. Interment followed in Hazlehurst City Cemetery.
Active Pallbearers were Rusty Hunter, Gary McCallum, Randy Ricketson, Jimmy Ricketson, Ray Ricketson, Marcus Ricketson, Albert Lee Tate, and Jim Sapp.
Musical selections were rendered by Chris Johnson, the congregation, and Jeffery Spell.
Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home was in charge.
