Rev. Herman Carter, 88
Rev. Herman W. Carter, 88, of Hazlehurst, died Dec. 05 at Wynfield Park Nursing Home in Albany.
Rev. Carter was born May 14, 1930, in Jeff Davis County to the late Ralph Carter and the late Ruby Mae Pair Carter. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, retired truck driver with Carolina Freight, pastor of Denton Baptist Church, Peoples Baptist Church, Tabernacle Baptist Church and Congregational Baptist Church, and a member of Southside Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Loree Thomas Carter.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Ron Collins of Leesburg; son and daughter-in-law, Phil and Linda Carter of Dublin; sister, Margaret Horton of Macon; grandchildren, Zack and Brittany Hobby of Savannah, Shane Carter of Dublin, Jonathan Collins of Seattle, WA and Brad Collins of Statesboro; several nieces and nephews.
Services were held Dec. 9 at Southside Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Wigley officiating.
Interment followed in Hazlehurst City Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Zach Hobby, Shane Carter, Brad Collins, Greg Horton, Kevin White and Luke White.
Musical selections were rendered by Jeffery Spell and Hal Cox.
Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home was in charge.
