Mrs. Trellys Porterfield Hayes, 79
Mrs. Trellys Porterfield Hayes, 79, passed away Nov. 27 in Savannah where she resided for the past two years.
She was born Oct. 4, 1939, to the late Willard Chavis and Fannie Chavis Mills in Hazlehurst, where she lived most of her life. She loved listening to gospel and country music, especially Conway Twitty, fishing, going to church, and spending time with family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husbands Charles H. Porterfield and Grady Hayes; son Gary Porterfield; sister Velma Shumans.
She is survived by her daughters Linda Byerly (William), Nelda Pabst (Donald),and sons Harold Porterfield (Carla), Timmy Porterfield (Vonnie); son/grandson Gary Brandon Porterfield; and brother Wayne Chavis. She has 14 grandchildren: Crystal, Amanda, Angel, Alex, Charles, Bryson, Josh, Tiffany, Ryan, Clarence, Francis, Rusty, Jake, Max; and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Her service was Dec. 1 at Northgate Baptist Church in Hazlehurst. A private burial service will follow at a later date. The family would like to thank the staff at Pruitt Health and Hospice of Savannah for the wonderful care and love she received under their care. In lieu of flowers, you may donate to Hospice of Savannah or an organization of your choice.
Trellys was a kind & loving soul who lived her life through the Lord’s path. I never heard her speak an unkind word & we all should live through her example. RIP sweet lady
