Mr. Bernie Conaway, 76

Services for Mr. Bernie Conaway, 76, who died Oct. 31, were held Nov. 4 at Bennett Tabernacle Holiness Church in Hazlehurst.
Pastor Charles A. Anderson gave the eulogy and was assisted by Pastor Joyce Batten, Deacon Malchus Robinson and Pastor Russell Houser. Burial was in Isle of Hope Church.
Mr. Conaway was the son of Mr. John Conaway Sr. and Mrs. Lola M. Conaway. He attended Wheeler County Training School. He moved to New Jersey and began working for Trinity Bag Company and later became a commercial truck driver for 16 years. He later returned home to Lumber City and worked with Emerson Electric/Alco Controls where he retired after 20 years of service. Later he owned and operated B&R Lawn Care Service. He was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church of Lumber City.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Sarah L. Conaway of Uvalda; three daughters, Alice Conaway of Syracuse, N.Y., Cynthia Jewell of Norfolk, VA, Chandra Williams of Brunswick and one son, Jamaica Robinson of Uvalda; sister, Ms. Johnnie Mae Toble of Hazlehurst; four great children, five great-grandchildren of a host of relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were nephews and cousins, Franklin Conaway, Kevin McRae, Bruce King, Rodney Conaway, Tony Clark, Cedric Clark.
Music was rendered by the combined choir.
