Mrs. Mildred Williams Tompkins, 82

Mrs. Mildred Williams Tompkins, 82, of Lumber City, died Sept. 22 at her daughter’s residence.
Mrs. Tompkins was born March 19, 1936, in Telfair County to the late Corda Williams and the late Bonnell Rewis Williams. She was a retired lunchroom worker with Telfair County Board of Education and a member of Lumber City Church of God. She is preceded in death by her husband, Homer Tompkins, siblings, Ann Branch, Bonnie Tucker, Hilda Spires, Clyde Williams and Edward Williams.
Survivors include her daughter, Jeannie Wood (Jack) of Hazlehurst; son, Vernon Tompkins (Sandi) of Glenwood; sisters, Shirley Hand and Sara Haymons; brother, Robert Williams; grandchildren, Richie Howard (Melissa). Jason Tompkins, Scottie Tompkins, Ronnie Solomon (Krystal), Misty Brown (Austin) and Shandi McLendon (Mike); five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held Sept. 24 in the chapel of Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home with the Rev. Royce Hulett and the Rev. Daniel Gilliam officiating.
Interment followed in Riverside Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Steve Williams, Steven Williams, Jake Spires, Ricky Spires, Jim Spires and Richie Howard.
Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home was in charge.
