Mr. Richard Jeff Ursrey, 55

After a protracted battle with cancer, Richard Jeff Ursrey died on July 21, 2018 in Pensacola, FL at the age of 55. His Celebration of Life was held July 26. Pastor Randy Hamil and Tammy Disney Kunze, who gave the eulogy, officiated. Songs included “I Can Only Imagine” and “It is Well with My Soul.” Also during the service, a memorial video was shown and tributes to a father were given.
Jeff, born Feb. 14, 1963, was the son of Barbara Ursrey and the late Guy Ursrey. He grew up in Hazlehurst and then moved to Pensacola to attend college and graduated from the University of West Florida with a degree in Physics. He had a passion for the outdoors and loved to fish and golf.
Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Traci Disney Ursrey; two children Dylan (Hollyn) and Brooke; grandchildren Peyton and Madelyn; mother, Barbara Ursrey of Hazlehurst; siblings, Mike Ursrey, Tami (John) Snowden and Todd (JoBeth) Ursrey; and his special aunt, Gayle U. Wooten and numbers nieces and nephews.
“Some go to church and think about fishing, others go fishing and think about God.”
But he’s already made it plain how to live, what to do, what God is looking for in men and women. It’s quite simple: Do what is fair and just to your neighbor, be compassionate and loyal in your love, and don’t take yourself too seriously – take God seriously. Micah 6:8.
On behalf of the family, we would like to thank everyone for their prayers and support throughout this journey. Jeff was always encouraged by the cards, phone calls, and words of encouragement from friends and family both near and far.
