Mr. Brookie Carter, 56, of Hazlehurst, died April 24 at his residence.
Mr. Carter was born Feb. 16, 1962, in Appling County to the late Earl Carter and the late Leona Newsome Carter. He was a truck driver with Williams Brothers Trucking and member of the Church of God. He is preceded in death by step-daughter, Sabrina Deloach and granddaughter, Katlyn Carter.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy Rewis Carter of Hazlehurst; daughters, Tina M. Carter, Sharie Carter, Rebecca Ann Carter, Zoey N. Carter and Kaylie Carter all of Hazlehurst; sons, Tyler Carter, Bradley Carter, Lamar Carter, Desmond Lamar, Caleb Carter and Blake Carter all of Hazlehurst; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Kim Ussery; father-in-law, Ray Rewis of Texas; mother-in-law, Pete Rewis of Claxton; sisters, Becky Johnson of Florida, Cathy Knight of Baxley and Wynette Tomberlin of Douglas; brothers, Danny Carter (Sheila) of Hazlehurst and Ronnie Tomberlin of Douglas; brothers-in-law, Bobby Rewis (Katie) of Texas and Danny Rewis (Sue) of Guyton; sister-in-law, Gail Fogle (Robby) of Hardeeville, S.C.; several nieces and nephews.
Services were held April 28 at Grace Community Church of God with the Rev. Dewayne Joiner and the Rev. Nathan Greer officiating. Interment followed in Hazlehurst Memorial Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Danny Rewis, Robby Fogle, Larry Shuler, Sam Young, Donald Lindsey and Jeff Allen.
Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home was in charge.
