Mr. Cornelius N. Josey, 87
Services for Mr. Cornelius N. Josey, 87, who died April 7 at the Pavilion in Baxley, were held April 14 at Tallahassee Missionary Baptist Church in Hazlehurst.
Brother Henry Josey officiated with burial in Hall-Wilcox Cemetery with military honors.
Mr. Josey, a native of West Green, was the son of the late Rev. David and Mrs. Hattie Mae Thompson Josey. He attended schools in Coffee County and later joined the United States Marine Corps where he served during the Korean War, being honorable discharged in 1954. Mr. Josey married Pecola Eason in 1973. In 1979 the couple relocated to Cleveland, Ohio were he was employed by and retired from the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. In 2008 relocated back to Georgia where they lived during their final retirement years. Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, Pecola, of more than 35 years, and his siblings, Richard, Alfred, Curtis, and Annice Josey.
Survivors include his won, Lynn Wadley of Las Vegas, NV; sisters, Susie Mae Josey Garnes of Brooklyn, NY, and Bernice Josey Cox of Oceanside, CA; brothers, Guy Daniel Josey (Jan) of Silver Springs, FL; Paul Josey (Annette) of Washington, DC, and Henry Josey (Carolyn) of Hazlehurst; step-children, Larry D. Eason of Cleveland, Ohio, Cynthia E. Alderman of Baxley, Alice Eason Jenkins, of Stockbridge and Shanda R. Eason of Powder Springs; Goddaughter, Veronica Kayla Eason of Euclid Ohio; seven grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Milton Hall of Hazlehurst, Charlie J. Eason of Cleveland, OH, Ronnie Eason of Cleveland, OH; sisters-in-law, Betty J. Eason of Jonesboro, Gloria Eason Sanders of Covington, Jackie Eason-Hall of Baxley, Hazel Eason of Douglas, and Louise Eason of Hazlehurst, and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Active pallbearers were grandsons, nephews, and cousins.
Music was rendered by Kimmyer Eason Baker and Javone Eason.
Thornton’s Funeral Home of Hazlehurst was in charge of arrangements.
