Mrs. Joy Keller Peebles, 91

Mrs. Joy Keller Peebles, 91, of Alpharetta, passed away March 23 at Wellstar North Fulton Medical Center.
She was born June 11, 1933, in Abbeville, Ala., to the late Charles Spurgeon and Eunice Byrd Oldacre Keller. She grew up in Abbeville and later attended college at Auburn University. She married Grover Peebles Jr. in 1951 and they lived in Birmingham for 25 years before moving to Hazlehurst in 1981. After her husband passed, Joy continued building a life for herself in Hazlehurst until 2018 when she moved to Alpharetta to be closer to her family. Joy was a devoted Christian and an active member of First Baptist Church of Hazlehurst where she served as a longtime Sunday School teacher. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking and gardening.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Grover Cleveland Peebles Jr.; brothers Spurgeon Keller, Jesse Albert Keller, and Thomas Jasper Keller; and sister Nan Keller Rainer.
Survivors include sons Cleve Peebles (Rilla) of Johns Creek, Charles Peebles (Heather) of Folkston, and Clay Peebles (Ashley) of Social Circle; grandchildren Katie Peebles Lee, Kristie Peebles, Karie Peebles Austin, Jessica Peebles Mandrell, Wesley Peebles, Alex Peebles, Jordi Bohannon, and Chase Bohannon; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was held March 28 at Hazlehurst Memorial Cemetery with Pastor Brad Waters officiating.
