Miracles on Cromartie Street

What began as a vision to meet the needs of local families has grown into an annual community outreach that continues to bring hope, generosity and tangible expressions of love to Jeff Davis County.
On Nov. 22 at 4 p.m., Hazlehurst Church of God and Good Ground Food Pantry & Resource Center will host the Third Annual Miracles on Cromartie Street, a community-wide event to bless hundreds of individuals and families during Thanksgiving.
Miracles on Cromartie Street has become a demonstration of what can happen when churches, businesses, organizations and individuals come together with a common purpose: serving their neighbors.
This year’s event will feature two outreach opportunities, a large community resource giveaway and the distribution of 300 Thanksgiving meals to families.
The Community Resource Giveaway will provide families access to donated items, including toys, household goods and other resources to meet everyday needs.
In addition, 300 families will receive a Thanksgiving meal, including a turkey and trimmings, allowing them to prepare a Thanksgiving dinner in their homes.
Both giveaways will take place on the Hazlehurst Church of God campus on Cromartie Street. Items will be distributed first-come, first-served while supplies last. No preregistration is required, and deliveries will not be available.
The event is open to the community and serves families who could benefit from additional support during the holidays.
The heart behind Miracles on Cromartie Street is connected to the outreach of Hazlehurst Church of God and Good Ground Food Pantry & Resource Center.
Following the devastation of Hurricane Helene in 2024, church leaders and volunteers mobilized to provide emergency assistance to families. Over an 18-day period, their efforts provided approximately 30,000 meals to people affected by the storm.
In August 2025, Good Ground Food Pantry opened its doors, establishing a consistent source of food assistance and support. Today, the ministry serves approximately 120 to 125 families each week through food distribution.
Good Ground has also coordinated food distributions, with events serving more than 300 families.
At the mission’s heart is a desire to remind people that they are not forgotten. The ministry demonstrates the love of Christ and encourages the community to meetthe needs of others.
Organizers are calling on businesses, civic organizations, churches and individuals to help make Miracles on Cromartie Street a success. The event requires significant resources, financial support, donated goods and volunteers.
There are several ways to get involved:
Monetary donations help purchase resources necessary to serve families.
Contributions of canned goods, nonperishable food items, and Thanksgiving meal ingredients help provide meals.
New toys, household items and other useful goods are needed.
People are invited to participate in Serve Day to assist operations.
Businesses are asked to contribute funds, resources or volunteers.
