Mr. David Wooten, 74

Mr. David Wooten, 74, of Houston, Texas, passed away Aug. 2.
He was born May 1, 1952, to the late B.B. Wooten Jr. and Margaret Canady Wooten. After graduating from Jeff Davis High School in 1970, he attended the University of Georgia and went on to earn his law degree from South Texas College of Law. He married the love of his life, Bobby, on Sept. 3, 1988, before the Tennessee vs UGA football game, with the ceremony being officiated by the chaplain of the team. He and his wife lived and breathed for Georgia football.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his aunts and uncles, Marvin and Frances Johnson, Thelma and Bill Tillman, Merle and Jack Coalter, and Alva and Eloise Wooten.
David is survived by his wife, Bobby Wooten of Houston, Texas; his step-children and grandchildren who he loved as his own, Erin (Nathan) Renfro, and their children Sophie, Luke, Lydia and Olive, Stacey (Rob) Phillips, and their children Thatcher and Aidan, and Jamie Ekstrom and children Anthony and Tallia; great-grandchildren, Slylar, Anthony Jr., Audrey, Draya, Akira, Bryant Jr., Riley and Romi; and his cousins, Steve Johnson and wife Rosie of Birmingham, Ala., and Daniel Wooten Johnson and wife Shelley of Tempe, Ariz., and Harry Mims.
A memorial service will be held Aug. 28 at 10 a.m. in the social hall of Hazlehurst First Methodist Church.
