Mrs. Shirley Hughes Lovett, 78

Mrs. Shirley Hughes Lovett, 75, of Hazlehurst, passed away July 8 at her residence under the care of Community Hospice.
Mrs. Lovett, born Nov. 10, 1950, in Hazlehurst, was the daughter of the late Bonnie and Lenora Hand Hughes. Her family was her greatest joy, and she loved them with a devotion that shaped every part of her life.
She found peace and happiness in simple things, casting a fishing line on quiet waters and tending lovingly to her flowers. She had a career as an insurance clerk with BP Amoco Fabrics. Her faith was the foundation of her days. As a devoted member of Grace Community Church of God, she delighted in singing and worship, lifting her voice with gratitude and praise.
Her life was one of love, faith, and gentle strength, and she leaves behind memories that her family will hold close forever.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Jeffery Lovett; sister Willene Lovett; brother Edward Hughes; and a great-grandson Beau Ryals.
Survivors include her daughters Felicia (Dustin) Atkinson and Donna Medders both of Hazlehurst; sons Ira (Peggy) Medders of Uvalda, Reid Lovett, Rusty (Tiffany) Lovett and Ridge (Jenna) Lovett all of Baxley; sister Knellie (Keith) Browning of Hazlehurst; brother David Hughes of Hazlehurst; 18 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services were held July 9 in the chapel of Swain Funeral Home in Hazlehurst with Pastor Deidra Greer and Pastor Roger Daniels officiating. Interment was in Hazlehurst City Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Bryce Medders, Chance Colson, Brylon Sandiford, Lamar Leggett and Dean Davis.
Swain Funeral Home was in charge.
