Ms. Gewanda Bryant, 83

Ms. Gewanda Bryant, 83, of Hazlehurst, passed away May 31 at Glenwood Healthcare under the care of Community Hospice.
Gewanda was born Aug. 2, 1942, in Jacksonville, Fla., to the late John Cecil Walls and Mary Allene Cox Atkinson. Gewanda loved Jesus with all her heart. She enjoyed going to church, reading her Bible, and talking about the goodness of God to anyone who would listen. Her favorite saying was, “I’m about my Father’s business,” and she truly lived by those words. She could often be found listening to her radio or watching preaching on television. Though life brought its share of hardships, Gewanda faced them with grit and determination. She was a spitfire through and through — strong, persistent, and never one to give up.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Trenton Bryant; daughter Tammy Hutchinson; brothers Kendall Walls, John Walls and David Walls; and sisters Linda Burch, and Lorie Hutson.
Survivors include her son Clay Bryant of Fitzgerald; daughters Becky Bryant and Gelina Bryant of Hazlehurst; sister Mary Powell of Denton; special friends Darrell and Dana Hand of Hazlehurst, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held June 3 at 1 p.m. at Hazlehurst City Cemetery with the Rev. Darrell Hand officiating.
Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home was in charge.
