Mrs. Pattie Lee McLeod, 72

Mrs. Pattie Lee McLeod, 72, of Hazlehurst, passed away May 5 at her residence.
Ms. McLeod was born April 21, 1954, in Valdosta to the late Lester Lee Post and the late Dorothy Elise Hand Post. She was an educator of 30 years, retiring from the Jeff Davis County Board of Education, and a member of Bible Baptist Church. She devoted her life to teaching children, whether in Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, or the classroom. She established and operated the Emmanuel Academy to assure that her grandchildren and others would have an opportunity for a Christian education. Ms. McLeod was also a sign language interpreter and learned the Spanish language to help her better educate her beloved students.
Survivors include her daughter Jodie (Darrell) Creamer of Hazlehurst; son Jason (Lyndsey) Carter of Hazlehurst; sister Sabrina (Robert) Miller of Hazlehurst; brother Lester (Caroline) Post of St. Simons; grandchildren Reanna Mabey, Rylie Brooke Creamer, Tucker Creamer and Elizabeth Carter; great-grandchildren Vanessa Mabey and Cash Mabey; many nieces and nephews.
Services were held May 7 in the chapel of Swain Funeral Home, Hazlehurst with the Rev. Brian Brazzell officiating. Interment followed in Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Darrell Creamer, Tucker Creamer, M.J. Mabey, Micah Harris, Jason Carter and Martin Mabey.
Swain Funeral Home was in charge.
