Girls tennis makes Final Four

Jeff Davis High’s girls tennis team advanced to the Final Four Monday with a 3-0 win over Banks County in Hazlehurst.
The JD boys lost a heartbreaker 3-2 to Banks County and were eliminated from the playoffs.
The Lady Jackets play today (Wednesday) at 1 p.m. at home as they meet Armuchee.
Wednesday’s match will be the second year in a row that Jeff Davis and Armuchee have met in the Final Four. Last year, the Lady Jackets prevailed 3-1 to advance to the state finals where they fell to Brantley County in Nahunta.
The Jacket girls won Monday with Cori Mims winning her 90th match of her career at No. 1 singles. Lila Walters played No. 2 singles and Ryleigh King was at No. 3 singles. The 1st doubles team was Ava Coleman and Kylie Ross and the 2nd doubles team was Rowan Fisher and Caylin Carter.
The boys had Daniel Mims at No. 1 singles, Caidon Diaz at No. 2 and Bentley Poe at No. 3. First doubles was Asher Mims and Brock Howard and No. 2 doubles was Kenny Newton and Christian Dunn.
