Mr. Donald Johnson, 82

Mr. Donald Johnson, 82, of Hazlehurst, passed away April 20 at his home under the care of Bethany Hospice, surrounded by his family.
He was born Sept. 19, 1943, in Omega to the late Seabrean Hedgepath Johnson and Fannie Pearl Cooksey Johnson. Donald worked as a dedicated truck driver and mechanic, and was a skilled woodworker who built his own cabinet shop, crafting cabinets for many in his community. He found great joy in the outdoors, especially fishing, and could often be found relaxing with a good western movie. Above all, Donald cherished time with his family and took great pride in his beloved grandchildren. A Christian by faith, he lived with an easy-going spirit and a warm, lovable nature that drew people to him — he was truly loved by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers Jimmy Johnson, Bobby Johnson and Billy Johnson; sister Lynda Johnson Newell; and grandson Stanley Dean Johnson.
Donald is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years Brenda Johnson of Hazlehurst; children Jenifer Johnson of Hazlehurst, Kenneth Johnson (Robin) of Greensboro, Ashley Johnson Ramey (Ronnie) of Buckhead, Lisa Johnson (Gill) of McDonough, and Michael Newell of Hazlehurst; grandchildren Cassidy Lilliott, Alicia Lilliott, Paisley Ramey, Garrett Ramey, Tyler Johnson, Brandy Johnson, Kenny Johnson and Breanna Lawson; and several great-grandchildren, extended grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service was held April 23 in the chapel of Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home with Ricky Lilliott officiating.
Honorary pallbearers were Donald’s nurses and staff of Bethany Hospice.
Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home was in charge.
