Ms. Pearlie Newell, 67

Ms. Pearlie Newell, 67, of Hazlehurst, passed away April 10 at her home.
Ms. Newell was born Sept. 12, 1958, in Tampa, Fla., to the late Hoke Newell and Mollie Mills Newell, but had made Hazlehurst her home for many years. She was a member of Restoration Church and enjoyed spending time reading her Bible. In her younger years, she loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. She also enjoyed watching television and was happiest when surrounded by others, as she truly loved a crowd. Her greatest joy in life was her family, and she especially cherished the time she spent caring for her grandchildren. She was also well known for her love of coffee, often keeping a cup close by throughout the day.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers Jimmy Newell and Ralph Newell, brothers-in-law Bobby Trowell, Gene Husted and Aubrey Floyd.
Survivors include sons Billy Aaron Grantham of Fitzerald, Henry (Hank) Cleve Barfield of Clarksville, Fla., and Joe Harvey Stanford III of Hawaii; daughter Elizabeth Diane Carlson and Joey Wilkinson of Alford, Fla., and Freida Marie Stanford of Fitzgerald; brother Henry and Teresa Newell of Fitzgerald; sisters Bessie Trowell of Hazlehurst, Susie Newell of Fitzgerald, Virginia Floyd of Hazlehurst, Linda Floyd of North Carolina, and Christine Husted of Tampa; 17 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held April 13 in the chapel of Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Gilbert officiating.
Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home was in charge.
