It’s playoff time

It’s playoff time for high school spring sports and action has already begun in the Georgia High School Association 2026 championship tournaments.
Jeff Davis High’s boys and girls tennis teams began play yesterday (Tuesday) with the boys meeting Barrow County and the girls playing Worth County.
Jeff Davis High’s tennis program is one of the top Class A, Division 1 programs in Georgia. The Lady Jackets are the No. 1 seed in the state playoffs and the boys are the No. 5 seed.
If the girls win over Worth, they will play the winner between No. 17 Dodge County and No. 16 Rabun County April 29 in Hazlehurst. A victory for the boys against Barrow County puts the Jackets in an April 29 match against the winner of No. 12 Thomasville and No. 21 Commerce.
Soccer playoffs also began yesterday, with the Lady Jackets playing Oglethorpe County and the Jacket boys facing Banks County.
If the girls, the No. 6 seed, defeat Oglethorpe, they will host the winner of No. 11 Toombs County and No. 22 Dodge County next Tuesday. If the No. 6 seeded Jacket boys win over Banks, they host the No. 11 Barrow vs. No. 22 Swainsboro winner, also next Tuesday.
Baseball playoffs begin Friday for the Yellow Jackets as they travel to Eatonton for a double header against Putnam County. The “if” game is slated for Saturday. Jeff Davis is seeded No. 21 and Putnam County is No. 12.
The winner of that matchup will play the winner of No. 5 Social Circle vs. No. 28 Dodge County, April 30-May 1.
The track and field teams competed in the region track meet yesterday (Tuesday). The sectionals will be held May 2 at Bleckley County and the state meet is set for May 12 at the University of Georgia’s Spec Towns Track and Field Complex in Athens.
