The Jeff Davis High School Yellow Jacket tennis teams traveled to Thomasville March 10 to face the Bulldogs — and they didn’t waste any time taking control of the match. Both the boys and girls teams served up a dominant performance, sweeping Thomasville 5–0 and bringing home two impressive victories.
The Yellow Jackets later hosted a JV round robin with Coffee and Statesboro. The JV Lady Jackets battled hard against Coffee, dropping a close 2–3 match in a contest that could have gone either way. The JV Yellow Jacket boys kept the momentum rolling, defeating Coffee 4–1.
In their next matchup, the JV Yellow Jackets squared off with Statesboro. The Lady Jackets fought point-for-point but came up just short in another nail-biter, falling 2–3. Meanwhile, the JV boys continued their winning ways, defeating Statesboro 4–1 and proving tough to break on their home courts.
The Yellow Jackets have a busy week of tennis ahead. The middle school team opened the week by hosting conference rival Bleckley County Monday. The JDH Yellow Jackets returned to the courts Tuesday, hosting region opponent Worth County. The JV squad will serve up more action on Wednesday, March 18, hosting another round robin with Coffee and Camden at 3 p.m. The varsity Yellow Jackets will close out the week Thursday, hosting Southeast Bulloch at 4 p.m.
Finally, the Jeff Davis Tennis Boosters will host the Elliott Carter Memorial Tennis Tournament on March 21–22, promising a weekend full of exciting rallies, fierce competition and plenty of Yellow Jacket tennis.
