Werkheiser announces candidacy

State Representative Bill Werkheiser (R-District 157) announced his candidacy for reelection, seeking another term to represent Appling, Evans, Jeff Davis and Tattnall counties in the state House of Representatives.
“It has been an honor in my life to serve this community” Werkheiser said. Before becoming State Representative, Werkheiser was involved in the community, serving as president of the Tattnall and Glennville Chambers of Commerce, Rotary Club and Tattnall Airport Authority. He has also served on the Evans County Hospital Board, Regional FCA board and as a deacon of his church.
Werkheiser owned printing and real estate businesses for 40 years. “As my time in business was winding down, serving in the Legislature allowed me to continue a life of servant leadership in a broader way after decades of serving my local communities.”
He was the first in his class of over 50 members appointed to a leadership role by the Speaker. “There is no shortcut when it comes to building relationships. Being able to pick up the phone and call a commissioner or Agency contact when someone needs help is paramount to serving our District,” Werkheiser said.
Werkheiser has been married to Kathy Werkheiser for 42 years. They have four children and nine grandchildren. His wife is a labor and delivery nurse.
“My wife and I were born and raised in Atlanta. Moving to rural Georgia right after college and raising our children has been an opportunity of a lifetime.Protecting the values and lifestyle of rural Georgia while at the same time providing opportunities for future generations is the perspective that I defend at the Capitol in Atlanta,” said Werkheiser.
