Jeff Davis High’s girls basketball team lost three games over the last week to fall to 4-12 overall and 1-3 in the region.
The Lady Jackets fell 50-40 to Worth County Tuesday in Hazlehurst, 66-32 to undefeated Bacon County Friday in Alma, and 45-34 to Brantley County Saturday at home.
Against Worth, Bree Coney’s 2 buckets were the only offense JD could muster in the opening quarter as the Lady Rams rushed out to a 15-4 lead at the first stop. From there on out, Jeff Davis outscored Worth 36-35 but the 11-pt. 1st quarter lead was too much to overcome.
Coney led the Lady Jacket scoring with 21 points and was joined in double figures by Latrice Shivers with 13. Marlee Burch added 4 and Zijanna Mincey 2.
Janiah Williams topped Worth with 11 and A’Miracle Davis had 10.
Bacon County’s Kay Thomas scored 14 1st half points to lead the Lady Raiders to a 38-18 halftime lead as the unbeaten hostesses breezed to the win.
Shivers was the only Lady Jacket in double figures as she tallied 13 points. Coney had 6, Brylee Wyatt 5, Mincey and Anna Grace Alligood 3 each, and Markyla Durden 2.
Thomas finished with 20 for Bacon while Apple Reynolds had 14 and Tay Chancy 12.
The Lady Jackets battled hard against Brantley Saturday night as they led 22-18 at intermission only to fall apart in the second half.
Wyatt had the hot hand for Jeff Davis in the opening half as she buried 5 3-pt. shots, collecting 15 of JD’s 22 points in the 1st two quarters.
Wyatt finished with 20 points but was the only Lady Jacket in double figures. Shivers had 6, Durden 5, Coney 2 and Alligood 1.
Tamiyah Coley led Brantley with a dozen points.
