Mr. Gary Edward Yawn Sr., 74

Mr. Gary Edward Yawn Sr., 74, of Baxley, passed away Dec. 10 at Community Hospice in Vidalia.
Mr. Yawn was born Sept. 8, 1951, in Jacksonville, Fla., to the late Otis Edward Yawn and the late Mildred Peacock Yawn. He was a member of Asbury Church and was an electrician with CSX Railroad. Beyond his professional life, he was known for his adventurous spirit as an avid motorcyclist. He found joy in simple pleasures — playing pool, cornhole and horseshoes — and cherished the peace of spending his days fishing. He was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Yawn, and brother-in-law, Zachery Lee.
Survivors include his wife Cathrin B. Yawn of Baxley; daughter Carrie Lee Yawn (Joe Toler) of Baxley; son Gary E. (Charity) Yawn Jr. of Baxley; brother Greg (Gail) Yawn of Hazlehurst; grandchildren Matthew (Rosie) Hutcheson, Dylan Yawn, Chayle (Austin) Hayes, Stormi Yawn, Merek Davis, Gabe Hunt and Zada Hunt; and great-grandchild Ava Hutcheson.
Services were held Dec. 13 from the chapel of Swain Funeral Home with Pastor Darron Jackson and the Rev. Michael Sapp officiating. Interment was in Asbury Church Cemetery,
Active pallbearers were Matthew Hutcheson, Dylan Yawn, Merek Davis, Buddy Smith, Cohen Griffin and Dale Austin.
Swain Funeral Home was in charge.
